Former presidential candidate Professor George Wajackoyah has confirmed that comedian Eric Omondi is Azimio’s preferred candidate for Lang’ata in 2027.

Prof Wajackoyah was received by comedian Eric Omondi at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) after a trip to the U.S and U.K

“Eric Omondi has become the new kingpin of your generation. It is this kind of people that we need to take over power,” he began.

Wajackoyah attacks police for arresting Eric Omondi

The Roots Party leader expressed confidence that the likes of Eric Omondi would bring change in governance and replace the same leaders who have been in power since independence.

Prof Wajackoyah further condemned police officers for arresting Eric Omondi on several occasions while he staged protests over high cost of living.

“Why would you arrest such a young man who has never even stolen a chicken? Kila wakati Eric akisimama mnashika yeye, mnapiga yeye,” he commented.

Why we love Eric Omondi

Wajackoyah revealed that Eric already has overwhelming support from Raila Odinga’s family to vie for the Lang’ata MP seat.

“Eric Omondi is doing what we have been doing, what Baba has been doing. Eric is on the right path. That is why the Raila Odinga family loves Eric…

“Eric is principled. He has attracted Baba, he has attracted me. he has attracted the Azimio leadership,” he explained.

Jalang’o remains undeterred

Omondi will have no opponents within the Azimio coalition come 2027 if what Wajackoyah says will hold.

“Let them call for elections. He is the next MP for Lang’ata. I am not campaigning for him because I like him but because I like his resilience, his persona, and his agitation,” Prof Wajackoyah added.

Meanwhile, the incumbent MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o maintained that he would win the Lang’ata MP seat regardless of the party he vied with.

“Niko tayari kuingia popote iwe independent, ODM ama yoyote ile,” Jalang’o said in an interview on Radio 47‘s Breakfast show hosted by Mwashumbe and Mwakideu.
