Celestine Ndinda, fondly known as Wakavinye, recently shared the unique and heartfelt story of her relationship with Kenyan comedian Njugush.
Unlike the typical romance filled with grand gestures, their love story blossomed unexpectedly and unconventionally.
Celestine candidly revealed that Njugush isn’t the romantic type.
Further thier relationship didn’t start with a formal proposal or an elaborate display of affection.
When asked if Njugush had ever officially asked her to be his girlfriend, Celestine laughed and admitted that it never happened. Instead, their bond grew naturally over time, deeply rooted in friendship.
“Hata sijui, hadi mi hujiuliza hiyo swali sahi… But he was very funny tukiwa college.
He had vibes,” she shared. Their friendship flourished during their college years, when they spent a lot of time together without any romantic intentions.
However, their relationship took a significant turn after a surprising discovery about their families.
During one of their conversations, they realized that both of their fathers were named Bernard, and both of their mothers were named Jane.
This coincidence led them to jokingly question if they were related.
To be sure, they both returned home with documents proving that they weren’t siblings, much to their relief.
As their relationship deepened, Njugush never proposed in the traditional sense.
Although a video surfaced where Njugush appeared to propose, Celestine clarified that it was just a joke. In reality, their marriage came about thanks to a gentle nudge from Njugush’s father.
“Hata hajawahi… London ilikuwa joke. Hata kuoana ilikam kama mzazi ako zile za I’ve seen this girl many times, what is your plan. Si akam home Christmas,” Celestine recalled.
Njugush’s father, a pastor, believed that if his son was serious about a girl, it had to lead to marriage.
His encouragement quickly moved their relationship towards marriage, surprising even Celestine’s mother.
Despite Njugush’s lack of creativity in showing love and romance, Celestine appreciates his efforts.
She acknowledged that while he excels in his work, romance isn’t his strong suit.
“Njugush si mcreative in terms of showing love…
In terms of job ako sawa, lakini when it comes to love and romance hana. Lakini siku hizi anajaribu.”
Though the idea of marriage initially felt overwhelming to Wakavinye, their strong foundation of friendship has kept their relationship strong.
They continue to grow together, building a marriage that’s as unique as their love story.
