Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has revealed that some quarters within the ruling United Democratic Movement (UDA) Party still distrust Raila Odinga.
His sentiments comes despite the fact that President William Ruto has closed ranks with the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya Coalition leader, and even included his key political lieutenants in his new “broad-based” Cabinet.
According to the lawmaker, it is not lost on some UDA luminaries like himself of Raila’s influence whenever he enters government. Barasa claims that Raila has scuttled every government he is a part of.
Although not factual, Barasa accused Raila of scuttling President Daniel Moi’s government when he joined in 1998, and the subsequent KANU (Moi) and NDP (Raila) merger.
Barasa also blamed Raila for almost scuttling President Mwai Kibaki’s government during the Grand Coalition Government after the 2008/2007 Post-Election Violence.
“Vile amekuja, hatulali… wakisema tufunge macho tuombe, sisi hatufungi macho tunamwangalia tu,” Barasa said. “Ndiyo asije akafanyia serikali yetu kile alifanyia Moi na Kibaki. Wakati aliingia alafu kura ikikaribia anaondoka na watu wake anaporomosha serikali.”
