Wamalwa slams Raila: “Instead of rescuing Kenya from the Ruto Regime, we rescue Ruto’s Regime and boast about it!”

Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has launched a scathing attack against Azimio leader Raila Odinga after his remarks of “rescuing Kenya Kwanza Government”.

Wamalwa could not fathom why Raila would rescue President William Ruto’s government and boast about it, instead of rescuing Kenyans from the “corrupt” administration.

“Instead of rescuing Kenya from the… Ruto Regime, We rescue Ruto’s… Regime and boast about it?” Wamalwa said on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday, August 6.

Wamalwa said that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), one of the Azimio constituent parties, had put the opposition coalition in limbo, in terms of oversighting the government.

“How does Azimio then continue Opposing a government that it is assisting?” Wamalwa added. “It’s Untenable and tantamount to running with the hare and hunting with the hounds.”

When he visited Toi Market fire victims on Monday, August 5, Raila claimed that he had rescued Kenya Kwanza Government from imminent collapse.

According to Raila, President Ruto reached out to him when it became clear that a team he had assembled to drive his government agenda failed leading to the recent anti-government protests.

“Jamaa walikuwa wameshindwa na kazi, wamevunja baraza la mawaziri, wakaja kwetu tuwape watu. Walipiga magoti chini kutuomba,” Raila said.

Raila further said that he offered Ruto a helping hand by directing his key political lieutenants to join the new “broad-based” Cabinet, exuding confidence that they will help turn things around.

“Tumewapa wataalamu sasa na mtaona mambo yatabadilika.”

Raila’s men — Hassan Joho, Wycliffe Oparanya, Opiyo Wandayi and John Mbadi — were nominated to the Cabinet by President Ruto.
