Even as detectives pursue the whereabouts of the man suspected to be behind the gruesome murder of a 25-year-old woman whose badly mutilated body was recovered Sunday, January 14 morning, crucial information are coming to light.
Preliminary investigations into the incident that shocked the country reveal that the lady could have been killed elsewhere before her body — chopped in pieces — was transported to the scene.
Investigators privy to the investigations have told TV47 that they suspect this because the Airbnb room which the main suspect had leased was found to be squeaky clean, with no blood stains.
Further, it appears that the suspect used a hacksaw to chop the woman’s body into pieces. The head is, however, still missing.
So far, two suspects — including the woman who rented out the Airbnb room in Roysambu — are in custody.
The sources say that detectives are finding it difficult to trace the suspect because he paid the Airbnb services in cash. However, using CCTV footage and phone triangulation, the sleuths have placed the suspect in the Ruaka area, Kiambu County.
It appears that the suspect has been staying in this area for days, with police visiting on Monday, January 15 requesting for surveillance cameras on several buildings as part of the investigations.
But the detectives have another bone to chew – the identity of the victim is still a mystery. The sleuths have lifted prints from the deceased fingers and forwarded them to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Forensic Laboratory in a bid to establish her identity.
There is also no clear evidence to show whether the crime was committed by this one suspect or multiple people.
