Multi-talented artist Sammy Brayo has shared his thoughts on love and called for an end to the discrimination faced by persons with disabilities (PWDs).
During an interview on Radio47’s Breakfast47 with hosts Alex Mwakideu and Emmanuel Mwashumbe, Brayo, who was born without arms said PWDs are no lesser beings.
Brayo said, like all individuals, PWDs seek meaningful relationships, yearn for affection, and deserve to enjoy life, regardless of being differently abled.
“People who are differently abled need to live this life to the fullest. Dating is an integral part of this journey. We are ordinary human beings. Sisi ni watu wa kawaida tu,” said Brayo.
The motivational speaker, painter, and singer from Juja, however, chose not to disclose his dating status, indicating that he is currently focused on developing his personal brand.
“When the time is right and I receive clarity from God, I will share that aspect of my life. At present, my attention is directed towards various projects, including brand building. I firmly believe in love, as it is a divine creation. Mbona tusipendane? Time ikiwa right, ntareveal tu,” said Brayo.
Brayo also shared that he has never regarded himself as different, despite facing stigma and discrimination throughout his life.
“I have always viewed myself as equal. It is the society that has imposed limitations on me,” he noted. “It is all about perspective. I can drive, bake — I’m quite skilled in baking and I can swim.”
The artist who draws inspiration from Guardian Angel and American rapper Lecrae was among the prominent performers at the Kenya Defense Forces Celebrations Day on October 14, 2024.
He received accolades from Defense CS Soipan Tuya who recognized his exceptional abilities as a source of inspiration for the youth and all differently-abled individuals.
“Sammy Brayo is living proof that our uniqueness is not a limitation but a strength. By staying focused on our goals, we will not only succeed in the pursuit of our dreams, but, we never know who we might inspire or whose life we might touch and change along the way,” wrote CS Tuya on X.
