Fresh details have now emerged in the mysterious murder of Nairobi Hospital Finance Officer Eric Maigo.
Doreen, mother to the main murder suspect Anne Odhiambo, revealed that they had a bitter argument hours before she disappeared.
“Nikawambia kama ungekuwa wa kupigwa ningekupiga ju nakuuliza kitu na husemi, na wewe ndio ulishinda kwa nyumba (I would have beaten you already because I am asking you something and you’re not responding yet you spent the day in the house),” she spoke with her face blurred to NTV.
Anne Odhiambo returns to the house
She reportedly ordered her teenage daughter to remain outside as she was infuriated with her.
By the time Anne Odhiambo returned to the two-roomed house within Kibera slums, the family had already taken supper.
“I saw her walk in as I retreated to bed. She pulled out her mattress and even locked the door, so I was confident she was in the house all night,” Doreen narrated.
She was alerted about her daughter’s absence the following morning by her other children.
Teenager picked up by Eric Maigo
It appears that Anne Odhiambo left the house at around midnight.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Maigo picked her up along Ngong Road around the same time, and together went to his Woodley Annex home.
“My children woke up at 6 a.m. and told me Anne was nowhere to be seen. I asked myself where should go this early morning,” she added.
CCTV footage within the Woodley Annex state showed the teenager scaling a water tank at 6:30 a.m., five blocks from the murder scene.
Murder Suspect To Be Detained For 21 Days
It wasn’t until 6:50 a.m. that Anne Odhiambo managed to find an unlocked gate within the estate. She was seen making away with a pair of crocs and running off past a bus awaiting a school kid.
The girl was arrested at a friend’s house within Bombolulu neighborhood of Kibra and arraigned at Milimani Law Courts.
Police were granted 21 days to detain her, pending a mental and age assessment ahead of plea taking.
Meanwhile, Eric Maigo will be laid to rest on Friday, September 29 at his Keumbu home in Kisii County.
