Kenya’s Otile Brown now claims that there is no single musicians in East Africa who has been accepted internationally.
Speaking in an online interview, Otile says that the region’s music industry is stuck, compared to other regions in Africa.
He insists that all East African artistes should take the initiative of working towards breaking the ceiling, by embracing different music genres, and not just bongo flava.
“Na hii international tutaipambania because the Industry is stuck,” he stated.
The interviewer asked about Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz but Otile dismissed.

However, he applauded the new Urbantone music terming it as the new form of music that will set Kenya’s industry on the map.

The ‘kistaarabu’ hitmaker released a new album — Grace — few days ago featuring both local and international artists.
Rayvanny from Tanzania is also featured on track number 1, as well as Kenya’s songbird Jovial and the legendary Nameless.
Earlier this year, he was the top musician in terms of royalties by the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) getting over KSh120,000 for his music.

Having been in the music scene for more than five years, Otile Brown has received various awards during his career. Some of his popular songs include “Dusuma,” “Such Kinda of Love,” “Japo Kidogo,” and “Kenyan Girl.”
