Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has alluded that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will be sent home through an impeachment process before the end of the year.
Barasa says that DP Gachagua has himself to blame for what will befall him in the coming days, further insinuating that an impeachment motion is in the offing.
DP Gachagua’s woes have further deepen after several key Kenya Kwanza leaders across the country backed Barasa’s sentiments.
“Rigathi Gachagua impeached himself one year ago. The National Assembly will be courageous enough to impeach him,” the legislator said.
Gachagua impeachment debate
The Gachagua impeachment debate has gain traction in the recent days, with the second in command pleading with his boss President William Ruto to call his political house into order.
MP Barasa castigated Gachagua’s claims that a section of MPs have been paid to malign his name and initiate an impeachment motion against him, insisting that the current Parliament remains independent from external influence.
“Before Christmas this year the deputy president will celebrate his holiday back at his village in Karatina after Parliament sends him packing,” Barasa added, accusing Gachagua of being a tribal bigotry, a vice that has caused a major fallout with Parliamentarians allied to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
“Gachagua does not want regions that did not overwhelmingly support Ruto in 2022 to get development. His philosophy is if you did not vote for the current regime you should not be in government.”
Shollei weighs in
During an event in Uasin Gishu, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gladys Boss Shollei openly expressed her intention to take charge of the impeachment process against DP Gachagua when it reaches the National Assembly.
“I will send you home myself. I am putting you on notice. You are going to be impeached, and I can confirm that to you,” stated Shollei.
Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana on Monday, September 23 filed a censure motion against DP Gachagua, accusing him of engaging in divisive politics, betraying his oath of office among other allegations.
