In a bid to enhance agricultural productivity and improving livelihoods, the County Government of West Pokot has officially launched a Fruit Tree seedlings program.
Speaking to TV47 Digital at Aramaket during the launch of the project, Governor Simon Kachapin reaffirmed his commitment to boosting agricultural productivity and improving livelihoods.
The program was officially launched at the Aramaket County Fruit Tree Nursery.
Through the program, the county will distribute:
- 106,500 avocado seedlings (covering 2,130 acres)
- 201,300 mango seedlings (covering 4,026 acres)
- 231,189 coffee seedlings (covering 231 acres)
- 10,000 citrus seedlings
- 33,000 pyrethrum splits
The first phase has already seen farmers receive 2,021 avocado seedlings and 288 mango seedlings, with more distributions planned in the coming weeks.
“This program aligns with my administration’s manifesto to enhance agricultural production and empower our farmers. By investing in high-value crops, we are creating long-term economic opportunities for our people,” said Governor Kachapin.
