Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga on Friday, May 17 bid farewell to Uganda President Yoweri Museveni, who has been on a three-day state visit to Kenya.
Raila was alongside Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to see off Museveni.
“I held discussions with and saw off H.E President Yoweri Museveni @KagutaMuseveni who has been on a state visit to Kenya. We revisited our dream of a united East African Community @jumuiya. I thank him for the continued support of my African Union Commission candidature,” Raila said shortly after bidding farewell to Museveni.
CS Murkomen said that it was a pleasure “meeting my friend” Raila.
“We had a brief consultation on national matters, including infrastructure and regional transport connectivity. I also wished him well in his bid to become the next @_AfricanUnion Commission chairman. We shall make great strides as a nation and as a continent when leaders work together,” Murkomen said.
While in Kenya, Museveni visited the tomb of the Unknown Warrior at the Uhuru Gardens National Monument in Nairobi, to pay his respects to the comrades who died fighting for Africa’s freedom.
Museveni and his host, President William Ruto, discussed a raft of issues affecting the two nations and East Africa.
“The agreements we signed during my visit carry the weight of historical context, aligning with our long-awaited missions. Over 60 years ago, Africa gained independence, yet the true depth of our historical mission remained unexplored (Uhuru na Umoja),” Museveni said.
