Kakai Kissinger, a seasoned advocate and governance expert, is facing the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) selection panel in a crucial interview that could determine his role in shaping Kenya’s electoral landscape.
With over two decades of legal experience, Kakai brings an impressive résumé, including a Master of Laws from Harvard University and extensive work in electoral monitoring across Africa. His background in governance, human rights, and the rule of law places him among the top contenders for a leadership position within the IEBC.
As he faces the selection committee, Kakai remains composed, knowing that his experience speaks for itself. Having led election observation missions in Zambia, Ethiopia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Liberia, and Uganda under the African Union and Carter Center, he is no stranger to high-stakes electoral processes.
Kakai has also held key managerial positions, including serving as Acting Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, where he supervised over 6,000 employees. His time as Deputy Chief Registrar saw him spearhead judicial reforms and secure external funding for the institution.
His track record in managing large teams and his deep understanding of electoral systems could make him a strong asset to the IEBC. However, the final decision lies with the selection panel, which will weigh his credentials, vision, and ability to restore public trust in the electoral commission.
