Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is causing a frenzy online for his fashion taste. The Spaniard was seen wearing a £1 million (Ksh 139,553,700) watch during the Real Madrid vs. Manchester City UEFA Champions League first-leg quarter-finals fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to sources, the watch is one of fifty ever made. It’s a high-end Caliber RM27-01 designed by Richard Mille.
The Caliber RM27-01 timepiece was initially designed specifically for tennis superstar Rafael Nadal.
The Richard Millie website explains that the watch uses a manual-winding tourbillon movement with hours and minutes and weighs only 18.83 grams – the lightest mechanical watch in the world.
This watch reportedly was made to be resistant to shocks and scratches, which is vital during the 22-time grand slam winner’s matches.
Mille called the invention a “triumph of engineering and technology” and one of the most “innovative architectural constructions” of recent years.
The Spaniard was back on familiar territory on April 9 to face his old friend Carlo Ancelotti. He watched his side take an early lead through an expertly taken free-kick from Bernardo Silva. The hosts, however, scored two quick-fire goals from Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo Goes to take command of the proceedings.
