Peris Onyango, the sister of the late Chief of Defense Forces General Francis Ogolla on Sunday 21, 2024 moved the crowd with her speech during his burial ceremony.

The pain in her voice could be felt as she recalled the days they grew up together in their parents’ home.

For her, she was just to deliver three things that General Ogolla had shared with her when he was still alive.

The first thing the General would tell her “A soldier can die anytime, so if I die, I need to be buried within 48 hours. But because I know you will give them a hard time, let me add you more hours, let it be 72 hours.”

Peris also revealed how his brother took him to the graveside and chose a place where he wanted to be buried.

Concluding with the third item, Peris said that the Kenya Defense forces should give his wife a holiday trip after the burial of the General.

“When I die, Jeshi to give mama Ochieng money to go for holiday,” Ogolla’s sister added.

“General was a special child in our family, in fact our mother really loved him more than us, sometimes we could prick his head because while we were being punished, he was not,” Peris Onyango said.

She praised his brother’s Christian way of living, terming him as a true servant of God.

“My brother is a kind man, loyal, very dedicated and committed to everything he does. He did things to perfection not forgetting he was a good Christian,” she added.

General Ogolla’s father birthday

Peris also recalled planning with General Ogolla their father’s birthday and the 21st of April was supposed to be a thanksgiving day in church.

But with the turn out of events, the thanksgiving day turned to be General Ogolla’s burial day.

General Ogolla’s funeral service was held at the Senator Obama Kogelo Primary School and the burial at his home in Mor Village, Siaya County.
