“When I’m attacked no one is arrested… why?” Peter Salasya speaks

National NewsNews

Mumias East Member of Parliament (MP) Peter Salasya has broken silence hours after his arrest over alleged assault.

Taking to his Facebook page on Saturday, Salasya shared photos of his Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, claiming he had been attacked by unknown people yet again.

Salasya wondered why no one was yet to be arrested over the attack yet he was detained for attacking people in public.

“This is the fourth time this vehicle being stonned and me being attacked but no single individual have ever been arrested and questioned why…” he wrote.

The first time legislator in a rejoinder stated that he forgave his attackers and would continue doing so.

“when God is still on my side I will continue to forgive them 70×70 times.”

He remained on the receiving end of trolls from Friday after a viral clip featuring him attacking an MCA from Kakamega County during a funeral.

The incident led to his arrest although he was released on a KSh50,000 cash bail and is expected in court on Tuesday, January 16.

Police said he would most likely be charged with assault and causing disturbance which is a violation of section 251 of the penal code.

In his statement, the affected MCA Peter Walunya said he took to the podium to invite area MP Peter Salasya to attend mourners during the burial of Jesmus Kodia at Maraba village.

Moments later a scuffle ensued as Salasya ordered the MCA to sit down as he was addressing the mourners. He descended on the MCA with a slap and blows before security personnel intervened.

Officers from Shianda Police Station responded to distress calls to restore calm and allow the funeral to proceed uninterrupted.

The MCA had his P3 form processed while police launched a manhunt for Salasya and arrested him within the day.
