A sombre mood has engulfed a village in Juja, Kiambu County, after the murder of a bodaboda rider whose body was dumped a kilometre away from his home.
Boaz Mogere, a father of four who hails from Riuriro village, went missing on Saturday, February 24. His decomposing body was discovered a week later, his eyes gouged out.
The deceased served as the chairperson of a group of bodaboda operators at Kenyatta Road area. Mogere also doubled up as a pastor in a local church.
His motorbike was stolen by his assailants and it has not been recovered.
A distraught widow, Vivian Mogere, is yet to come to terms with the brutal murder of her husband. She told journalists that she is having a difficult time explaining to their four minors what happened to their dad.
Bodaboda operators and locals in the area have challenged the government to improve security in the area or else they take matters in their hands.
Juja police have assured that investigations into the matter are at an advanced stage and the culprits will eventually be brought to book.
