The Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Ambassador Guo Haiyan, on Tuesday, February 11, paid a courtesy call on the Inspector General of the National Police Service, Douglas Kanja, at NPS Headquarters, Jogoo House “A”, Nairobi.
The two discussed a wide range of issues touching on bilateral and operational collaboration programmes between Kenya and China. These include law enforcement training and capacity building, as well as security cooperation through INTERPOL.
Ambassador Haiyan expressed her gratitude to the National Police Service (NPS) for the sustained collaboration, assuring IG Kanja of China’s continued support.
The Inspector General, on his part, appreciated the good and cordial relationship between the Kenyan and Chinese security services, which has facilitated numerous capacity-building initiatives and exchanges over the last decade.
He also acknowledged the support of the Chinese Government to the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) and expressed his anticipation for continued engagement and cooperation.
Also present during the visit were the Head of the Asian Desk at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Jane Makori, the Principal Assistant to the Inspector General, Mr. Mathew Kutoh, AIG, and the NPS Spokesperson, Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, CP.
