Al Nassar’s superstar forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, was visibly furious as he left the pitch during Tuesday’s friendly match between Portugal and Slovenia, which ended in a 2-0 loss, putting an end to Portugal’s winning streak in friendlies.
Ronaldo was seen leaving the pitch in a state of agitation, visibly fuming at a match official. In a video shared on social media, the former Manchester United striker is seen flinging his arm around while shouting at the match’s fourth official.
According to reports, the referee had largely ignored Ronaldo throughout the match, which left him irritated. The Portuguese captain claimed that the referee denied his team two penalties.
Despite dominating possession for most of the match, Portugal was unable to find the back of the net throughout the 90 minutes.
Cristiano Ronaldo was unavailable for Portugal during their 5-2 win over Sweden last Thursday.
Portugal will have a three-month break before they return to action. Martinez’s side will face Finland on June 4, followed by a tough clash with Croatia just four days later.
Their final international friendly before the major tournament in Germany will take place on June 11, a week before their first game at Euro 2024.
After winning all 10 of their qualifying games for the competition, Portugal was placed in Group F alongside Turkey, the Czech Republic, and Georgia, who qualified via the playoffs.
Their first game will be on June 18 against the Czech Republic, followed by matches against Turkey and Georgia on June 22 and June 26, respectively, to conclude their group stage campaign.
