Why did machete-wielding assailant(s) kill two cousins returning from church ‘kesha’?

Police in Laikipia County, are investigating an incident where two people were killed under unclear circumstances and their bodies dumped in Rumuruti town.

The deceased, who have since been identified as first cousins Tabitha Wanjiku Njogu and Jeremiah Maina, were reportedly attacked by machete-wielding assailants.

The cousins were on their way home from a night ‘kesha’ at Rumuruti Full Gospel Church, when they met their untimely deaths.

They had deep cuts on their heads, face, and slit throats and were bleeding profusely when their bodies were found.

The two bodies were found scattered in the morning next to Rumuruti Sub-County Hospital by passersby who alerted the public and the Administration Police.

The motive for the brutal murders is yet to be established.

Residents are lamenting that there has been a rise in cases of people being attacked in various estates in Rumuruti town and its environs, calling on the security teams to beef up security.
