Charlene Ruto, the daughter of President William Ruto has revealed why she wanted to quit her job.
Speaking during an exclusive interview with TV47 on Saturday, March 3, 2024, Charlene disclosed that when she was working in the private sector, she wanted to quit her job and focus on mission work, preaching the Gospel.
Charlene explained that she was disappointed when her parents (President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto) advised her not to quit the job.
“When I was working in the private sector I wanted to quit my job to do mission work, so I talked to them(President Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto) and they told me I couldn’t quit my job. At the time I was disappointed, and that was the one time we disagreed,” she said.
She added that later, she realized that her parents were right in advising her not to quit the job.

According to her, despite president Ruto having a busy political schedule during the day, he always returns home in the evening to spend time with his wife and children.
“As much as my father(President William Ruto)has been very busy in the political arena, he has always been coming home in the evening and we have a meal and have conversations together as a family,” she said.
At the same time, the first daughter urged Kenyan youth to work hard and be innovative instead of waiting for government jobs.

“As young people, we really have to take the initiative upon ourselves. Let’s not wait for the government to give us opportunities, you cannot sit in your house or room and expect things will come to you, there are resources online,” she advised.
She gave an example of how she was doing smokie and kachumbari business at Daystar University to make some money.
However, she regretted that most Kenyans could not believe, when she disclosed that she was doing the smokies and kachumbari business.
Meanwhile, Charlene defended the Kenya Kwanza government, noting that it has created job opportunities for youth both locally and internationally.
According to her, the main challenge has been communication since most people lack information on how they can get some of these opportunities.

In addition, she urged Kenyan youth to explore the digital space and engage in online jobs.
Charlene Ruto, who is Kenya’s blood donation ambassador, explained that she is dedicated to supporting Kenyan youth and women to achieve the best in their initiatives.
