A section of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) are calling on Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua to intervene in the ongoing disputes involving National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah in Kiambu County leadership.
The MCAs are urging the DP not only to defend Ichung’wah but also to instruct him to show respect towards other elected leaders in the county.
Speaking at Jesus Christ Compassionate Church in Ruiru, the MCAs led by their Majority Leader Godfrey Mucheke said while they respect last week’s call by Gachagua that Kiambu MCAs should support the Kikuyu MP in his post as Majority Leader, it will be on condition that the legislator also respects them and county leadership led by Governor Kimani Wamatangi.
Mucheke accused Ichung’wah of starting a feud with the county leadership by constantly belittling and undermining them then soliciting defence from DP Gachagua.
Kabete MCA Grace Hinga said respect is earned and for Ichung’wah to earn the respect of Kiambu Ward Reps, he must accord them respect and stop orchestrating fights against Kiambu leadership.
Patrick Ngaruiya (Ngecha Tigoni) urged the DP to consider investigating what is ailing Kiambu County before defending Ichungwa, saying some Kiambu MPs have been plotting Wamatangi’s downfall.
