A Georgia woman who suffered a miscarriage was found unconscious and bleeding, only to be arrested days later for allegedly disposing of the foetus.
Selena Maria Chandler-Scott, 24, faces charges of concealing a death and abandoning a dead body after police found fetal remains in a dumpster outside her apartment complex.

She was booked into the Tift County Jail but released on bond.
Now, the district attorney is reviewing whether she broke any state laws.
Authorities responded to an emergency call on March 20 and found Chandler-Scott unconscious.
Witnesses claimed she had placed the fetus in a bag before disposing of it.
An autopsy confirmed the fetus was about 19 weeks old and had never taken a breath.
Experts ruled it a natural miscarriage.
“There’s no specific Georgia law that addresses an individual’s choice to dispose of a naturally miscarried, non-viable fetus,” said District Attorney Patrick Warren, suggesting prosecution may not be warranted.
Chandler-Scott’s arrest has sparked national outrage.
Advocates argue it reflects a growing trend of women being criminalized for pregnancy outcomes, particularly after Roe v. Wade was overturned.
Cases of women denied lifesaving miscarriage care including fatalities in Texas have raised alarm.
Her family has launched a GoFundMe, raising over $18,000 for legal and medical expenses.
Feminist writer Jessica Valenti warned that normalizing such arrests is a dangerous step.
“This isn’t business as usual,” she said. “It’s a strategy to make us numb to extremism.”
