A video of a middle aged woman who had attempted to steal from an Mpesa shop circulated on the internet on Thursday February 22nd 2024.

It is alleged that the woman was trying to confuse the agent with a number saved as Safaricom.

The lady entered an Mpesa agent trying to withdraw funds from her Mpesa account.

However, her motive remained unclear to the attendant who allowed her to proceed with her transactions.

Suspicions rose when the attendant could not see the withdrawal confirmation on his side.

But the lady insisted that her withdrawal confirmation had returned and suggested to show it to the attendant.

It is when the number saved as Safaricom made a call and she asked the person to call them back later.

The man on the phone who had called her as Safaricom claimed to be in Kamiti prison.

In a video posted online, a rowdy crowd is seen in the shop, who questioned the lady about her scamming transactions.

The lady on her side, broke down in tears denying the allegations claiming to be a student.

A man’s voice is heard on the background questioning the woman who refused to reveal her identity.

The crowd then suggested to take her to law enforcers as cases of Mpesa theft have risen in their area.
