A 46-year-old woman was arrested overnight and charged with the murder of a ten-year-old girl in Carrara, Australia.
Emergency services were called to a residence in the area on Tuesday, August 13 at around 6 pm.
Police say the girl was located unresponsive, with paramedics trying to save her but she was declared dead at the scene.
These officers and the paramedics are receiving internal counselling in relation to the incident that they were exposed to,” Queensland Police Inspector Lou Serafim said, describing the scene as “traumatic”.
Police launched investigations promptly and tracked down the suspect around 10:25pm. Authorities have confirmed that the woman is known to the girl.
Hours later, the woman was arraigned before Southport Magistrates Court and charged with murder.
