A woman in Juja, Kiambu county has been mauled to death by a pack of Hyena today, December 2, 2023.
The middle-aged woman is said to have been walking from Nyacaba area to a coffee plantation in Juja for work before the unfortunate demise.
The hyenas consumed part of the woman’s stomach and neck before abandoning her remains by the roadside.

Irked Residents of Nyacaba and Witeithie villages in Juja blocked Armed Police officers who stomped the area from picking up the dead body claiming that the government has been neglecting their cry for help.
“Tunataka tuondolewe hizo fisi ama tutachukua sheria mikononi mwetu.” A resident in Juja complained.
Another similar and unfortunate incident happened days after a 9-year-old was attacked in the same manner.
The 9-year-old boy who was former Witeithie ward MCA son was buried a week ago.
The residents blamed the increased Hyena attacks on the abandoned quarries and bushy chunks of land that have remained undeveloped for years.

The quarries are believed to be the Hyena’s den.
The police, however, managed to take the body after Juja Sub County police commander Phylliss Muthoni and Witeithie ward MCA Ngugi Mwibiri intervened and pleaded with the residents to let them do their job.
The body was taken for preservation at Thika General Kago mortuary.
Godfrey Mucheke, a majority leader in Kiambu, called for the establishment of the Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS) camp in the area to hunt down the animals and protect the people from further attacks.
Some of the residents volunteered to join in the search for the hyenas.
