Woman sent to prison for stealing diary of President Joe Biden’s daughter

Aimee Harris, an American woman who stole a diary belonging to Ashley Biden daughter of president Joe Biden, and sold it to a conservative organization has been sentenced to one month in prison on April 9, 2024.

Harris, 41, pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to transport stolen property across State lines. She was sentenced in a federal court in New York.

Ashley Biden’s stolen diary was stored at a house she had stayed at in Delray, Beach, Florida, in 2020.

At that time Ashley was recovering from a drug addiction.

Meanwhile, on a later date, the owner of the property granted Harris permission to reside at the building.

It was during this time that she came across belongings of Ms. Biden, daughter of President Joe Biden.

Together with her co-defendant, Robert Kurlander, Harris attempted to sell the diary to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign team.

When the Trump campaign didn’t buy it, the pair approached Project Veritas, a group that conducts hidden-camera stings targeting news outlets, government officials and politicians.

Harris received $20,000 from project Veritas, this is according to a report done by BBC.

Judge Laura Taylor Swain, presiding over the case, termed her actions as despicable and consequently very serious.

She was ordered to forfeit the money.

Kurlander-the co-defendant also pleaded guilty and will be sentenced at a later date.

However, Project Veritas did not publish the diary, instead, they turned it over to authorities.

Meanwhile, Harris apologized to the president’s daughter during the hearing.

Prosecutors handling her case said Harris was motivated by both money and political writings:  “Stealing personal belongings of a candidate’s family member, and selling them to an organisation to exploit them for political gain, was wrong and illegal no matter the political agenda.”
