Every year on 4th February, the world commemorates ‘World Cancer Day’. This day is commemorated to take stock, highlight challenges and successes, and deliberate on strategies in the continued fight against cancer.

Today marks 25 years after the signing of the Charter of Paris Against Cancer at the World Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium.  This year’s World Cancer Day is themed United by Unique, a reminder of the collective commitment against cancer.

Cancer is a menace that has affected millions of lives since time immemorial. According to data by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for nearly 10 million deaths in 2020, or nearly one in six deaths.

On this World Cancer Day 2025, Cape Media Limited — the parent company of TV47, Radio47 and Digital47 — joins the global community in honouring the resilience of those affected by cancer—patients, survivors, families, and healthcare professionals.

Join us for #KikaoTV47, a pivotal dialogue on Kenya’s cancer burden—broadcasted live on TV47, from the Chandaria Auditorium at the University of Nairobi, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
