Kenya managed to get a point from the African football giants Ivory Coast as the fourth Group F match ended in a barren draw.
Harambee Stars who were playing at home, while away in Malawi have managed two draws against Burundi and AFCON champions Ivory Cost.
Stars became the first team in Group F to pick a point off the African champions, who had been on a run of three straight wins without conceding a goal.
The Kenyan boys had some very good chances to score and potentially win the game, but couldn’t land the ball in the net while the Ivorians themselves could have won it with five minutes to go but substitute Oumar Diakite hit the crossbar.
After the results, Ivory Coast still dominates Group F with 10 while Kenya is third with five points.
Kenya went into the match optimistic about passing a threat to Ivory Coast despite their position in African football.
Harambee Stars Captain Michael Olunga assured Kenyans that the team is not just in the competition to be part of it but rather to showcase Kenya’s football capabilities on the global stage.
Kenya will next play Gambia away on March 17 2025, before hosting Gabon a week later.
