Several leaders from developed nations have condemned the shooting incident during Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday July 13, 2024.
The leaders also condemned political violence during the US Presidential campaigns and wished Trump a quick recovery.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is among the leaders who raised concerns over the shooting incident at Trump’s rally.
At the same time, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, noted that all top leaders must stand firm against any form of violence that affects democracy.
This was after videos of the shooting incident circulated on social media, showing how Trump was whisked off stage with minor injuries.
However his campaign team noted that the former US President was safe and had been released from the hospital after suffering a minor injury during the incident.
British Prime Minister Kier Starmer said he was shocked by the attack on Trump.
“Political violence in any form has no place in our societies and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack,” Starmer noted.
Political violence is never acceptable according to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu noted that the shooting incident was shocking while Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said his prayers were with the former US President.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called the shooting unacceptable.
“The attack against former President Donald Trump must be vehemently repudiated by all defenders of democracy and dialogue in politics. What we saw today is unacceptable,” the Brazilian leader said.
