Kenya’s dominance at the World Athletics Masters Indoor Championships continued as Francis Kipkoech Bowen stormed to victory in the Men’s 50 (M50) 3000m, clinching the country’s second gold medal in record-breaking fashion.
Bowen, the reigning World Masters 5000m champion, led from start to finish, clocking an impressive 8 minutes 36.23 seconds to set a new world indoor record in his category. The silver medal went to Gregory Mitchell of the United States, who finished in 9:07.85, while France’s Santiago De La Fuente Martin secured bronze.
Earlier in the championships, Ibrahim Makonjo Muyah earned Kenya a silver medal in the 60m dash (M40 category), finishing behind American Antoine Echols, who claimed gold. However, Muyah was forced to withdraw from today’s 200m race due to a tendon injury sustained in the 60m final.
