World Rugby 7s :Shujaa retains core squad for Hong Kong and Singapore legs

Kenya’s national rugby sevens team, Shujaa, led by Head Coach Kevin Wambua, has announced its squad for the upcoming Hong Kong and Singapore 7s legs of the HSBC SVNS Series.

The squad, which remains largely unchanged, will be captained by George Ooro and Samuel Asati, with KCB’s Festus Shiasi returning to the lineup after missing the Vancouver 7s, replacing youngster Jackson Siketi of Kabras RFC, who has been dropped.

Shujaa has been drawn into a challenging pool alongside Spain, Great Britain, and France. The Hong Kong 7s will take place from Friday, March 28 to Sunday, March 30 at Kai Tak Stadium. Following that, the Singapore 7s will be held a week later, from Saturday, April 4 to Sunday, April 5.

Shujaa will start their Hong Kong 7s campaign on March 28, 2025, they will face Spain at 6:39 AM EAT, followed by a match against Great Britain at 9:23 AM EAT. The team will then take on France the next day, March 29, 2025, at 5:16 AM EAT.

The squad will aim to bounce back after a disappointing performance in Vancouver, where they finished in 12th place.

Despite this setback, Shujaa has retained the 9th position in the overall standings with 15 points.

The team is looking to secure maximum points in the remaining legs in Hong Kong and Singapore to improve their position and avoid relegation playoffs.
