Young couple found dead after domestic fight; leave 5-month old baby

Police in Makindye Division, Kampala are investigation the death of a young couple who allegedly killed in each other in domestic wrangles.

The Wednesday incident involved 24-year-old Arnold Senkungu who worked as a barber, and 21-year-old Shina Atwine who was a student.

According to police, neighbours raised alarm on the matter after noticing blood stains on their doorstep and realizing their door was locked from inside.

Sserunjoji Frank, a resident of Kabalagala where the deceased resided, told police officers that the two had a fight.

KMP deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire confirmed the incident, saying “It is said that after discovering fresh blood and locked doors, the neighbours forced entry to find Senkungu Arnold alive but succumbed to injuries at Kibuli Hospital. Tragically, Atwine Shina was found lifeless with a deep neck wound.”

Police who visited and processed the scene indicated that there were signs of a struggle between the two.

“A new knife with fresh blood and witness statements were pivotal to the investigation,” the police boss added.

Neighbours further revealed to the officers that the lady had confided in a friend about mistreatment from her partner.

Furthermore, that she went on to buy a new knife pointing to a premeditated murder which ended tragically for the couple. The couple had a five-month old baby.

The bodies were moved to Kibuli Hospital mortuary pending postmortem.

The 24-year-old barber was reportedly renown in his line of work. His father was also a barber who goes by the moniker Brian the barber.
