Celebrated car YouTuber, Mat Armstrong, has successfully restored Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford’s damaged Rolls Royce Wraith, which was involved in a collision in September 2023.
The incident occurred when Rashford, fresh off Manchester United’s 1-0 victory over Burnley in the English Premier League, was leaving the training ground. The accident happened as Rashford was driving his white Rolls Royce after the Red Devils’ fixture at Turf Moor.
Despite the impact, Rashford and the elderly woman in the other vehicle were unharmed, though Rashford was reportedly shaken by the incident.
Fast forward to 2024, Mat Armstrong, a well-known content creator from Leicester, purchased Rashford’s wrecked Rolls Royce Wraith at an auction. Armstrong has built a thriving YouTube channel, amassing over 2.7 million subscribers, by restoring wrecked supercars, and Rashford’s Rolls Royce was his latest project.
The Restoration Process: A Challenging Undertaking
The crash had left the vehicle with extensive damage, but Armstrong remained confident that he could breathe new life into the luxury car, which had just 1,000 miles on the clock. However, upon closer inspection, Armstrong realized the damage was far worse than anticipated. The custom parts needed from Mansory, the luxury car modification specialists, were prohibitively expensive.
To keep the project on track, Armstrong purchased another Rolls Royce for £90,000 to salvage parts. After investing countless hours of work and resources, the Mansory Black Badge Wraith was back on the road—delighting Armstrong’s followers with an entertaining and dramatic restoration journey.
As Armstrong test drove the newly restored car, he commented with a laugh: “It feels massive. I’ve got no brakes, every warning light is on the dashboard, but we are cruising in Rashford’s Rolls Royce.”
Though the car wasn’t perfect initially, Armstrong celebrated the achievement of getting it back in motion. “It does look a mess, but what an achievement so far. To get this thing moving… we’re one step closer now.”
A £400,000 Restoration and Mansory’s Reaction
In total, Armstrong is estimated to have spent over £400,000 restoring Rashford’s wrecked vehicle. However, after completing the project, Armstrong received a surprise call from Mansory, the luxury vehicle designers responsible for Rashford’s custom Rolls Royce.
The designers at Mansory invited Armstrong to drive the restored Wraith to their factory in Brand, Germany. After taking a closer look at Armstrong’s work, Kourosh Mansory, the company’s owner, did not hold back in his critique of the restoration, describing the repairs as “s*”**.
Armstrong humorously noted: “If there’s one thing we learned straight away, it’s that Mr. Mansory is really passionate about his brand.”
Despite Mansory’s criticism, Armstrong’s followers continue to admire his dedication and resourcefulness in restoring the once written-off vehicle. He recently took the Mansory Rolls Royce on an impressive drive across Europe and into Monaco, proving that the Wraith is now back in prime condition.
