YY opens up about breakup with Marya Okoth and relationship lessons

Comedian YY, known for his versatility, recently found himself in the spotlight after his wife, Marya, announced their split on September 6.

In an emotional interview with Dr. Ofweneke on Lessons at 30, YY opened up about their relationship.

Further, he shared what it takes to navigate a successful celebrity partnership.

YY emphasized the importance of having a plan and setting both short- and long-term goals in relationships.

He used Marya as an example, describing how he met her when she was studying interior design while pursuing acting.

He recognized her potential and chose to invest in her growth, even when the financial rewards weren’t immediate.

“I spent around 40,000 on her YouTube channel’s early episodes, which didn’t bring in any money at first,” he explained, but he believed in her talent and wanted to support her dreams.

When asked why he invested so much in Marya, YY stressed that relationships shouldn’t be based on expectations.

“Do good without expecting anything in return,” he advised. For him, investing in a woman’s potential is an act of belief, not a transaction.

Even if they don’t show appreciation, it shouldn’t change who you are or what you stand for.

YY offered some advice: people should remember that relationships may not always last forever.

He emphasized the importance of building an ex-partner to be proud of, noting that ending a relationship should not be filled with bitterness.

“We are human, and breakups happen. It’s not always about forever, but making the most of the time we share,” he concluded.
