Zari Hassan reflects on humble beginnings as a maid

Zari Hassan, a well-known entrepreneur and socialite, recently opened up about a challenging chapter in her life when she worked as a maid in the UK.

During an interview on her son Raphael Tlale’s YouTube channel, Zari shared heartfelt stories about the tough jobs she took on to make ends meet after leaving Uganda in search of a better life.

“I’ve actually been a maid at some point,” she revealed.

“I did laundry and cleaned houses in the UK. It was all part of my effort to achieve a better life.”

Zari also recalled working night shifts in a supermarket, packing sandwiches and groceries. Despite her current success, she has never forgotten the struggles she endured.

Her experiences taught her valuable lessons about hard work and respect.

“Working as a maid and handling household chores has given me immense respect for house assistants,” Zari said.

“I don’t take them for granted because I’ve been in their shoes.”

Zari’s humility and dedication are clear as she reflects on how these early jobs shaped her character.

She explained that from a young age, she had been determined to work and make something of her life.

“I’ve been working since I was 17. People often think ‘she’s just living this life,’ but I’ve truly earned it.”

However, the road was not easy. Zari recounted a time when an unexpected phone bill for international calls to her mother in Uganda wiped out her wages.

“I was shocked to learn I wouldn’t be paid due to the high telephone bill.

I didn’t have any money, relying solely on my weekly wages,” she said, recalling the sense of helplessness she felt at that moment.

This experience sparked a deeper drive within her. Zari realized that she didn’t want to spend her life working just to cover basic expenses like rent and transport.

“I aspired for better,” she concluded.

She now lives a life of luxury, but her respect for hard work and her humble beginnings remain at the heart of who she is.
