Two brothers on the run after attacking their cheating mother, boyfriend with panga; they busted her in father’s matrimonial bed

Police in Bukedea District, eastern Uganda, are hunting for two brothers for the attempted murder of their mother.

Onenge Andrew and Opio Ivan, who hail from Akaramai Village, are said to have attacked their mother, Asikeit Melidah, after they busted her cheating on their father.

Police say that on the fateful day (March 20), Onenge and Opio returned home at around 10 pm, only to find their mother had invited her lover, Omerikol Joseph.

The thought of their mother inviting another man to their father’s matrimonial bed is said to have angered the siblings. Their father, Ogwang Isaac, is a teacher who is always stationed at his work place.

“The facts gathered indicate that the two siblings, on the 20.03.2024, returned home at around 10pm, and found their mother and her manfriend, already sleeping in their fathers’ house, which angered them.

“They picked pangas, attacked, hacked their mother and her manfriend, critically injuring them. The attack was as a result of adultery by their mother. The two victims were rushed to Bukedea Health Centre IV for treatment,” a police report says.

Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga has condemn the act of violence.

“It is a serious abomination. Mothers deserve all the respect from their children, no matter the circumstances. In this very incident, the sons who are now on the run, needed to bring their concerns, to the attention of their father, clan leaders, local elders, including women leaders, the church, and the Police Child and Family Protection Unit, to help prevail over their mother and her manfriend.

“They were instead rife with rage and anger, over their mother’s adulterous conduct. Their act was, therefore, pre-meditated and motivated by anger and rage. They are both wanted for two counts of Attempted Murder,” Enanga said.
