A boda boda rider in Ssembabule district, central Uganda has died by suicide after reportedly killing wife over a cash dispute.
It all began when the deceased Godfrey Ssekiranda reportedly sold his piece of land for USh2 million (KSh77,506) and gave up the money to his wife Nalutaya Shakira.
“We have established that the male victim sold his Kibanja (land) at Kinyasi village, Kikoma parish in Ssembabule district, where he raised Ugx 2m, and gave to his wife to open up a business in Kampala,” Uganda Police Force (UPF) said in a press statement.
Unlucky for the 27-year-old boda boda rider, his wife allegedly escaped with the money to Nyendo Masaka with her secret lover.
The rider apparently tracked her down and strangled her to death using a rope.
“After the murder, the jilted lover rode his boda boda up to his home village and committed suicide by hanging,” UPF added.
A suicide note left by the boda boda rider indicated he strangled himself using the same rope he used to murder his estranged partner.
